Taken from this weekends programme.
I am writing these notes on the Sunday morning following our FA Trophy defeat to Horsham. It was a true cup tie in every sense and we should take great pride in our team and the memories they left with us as our cup run went on and on.
The boys did us proud and I’m sure you will all join me in congratulating Ian and the team on their achievements in the cup and indeed in the season so far.
That said, our season starts now!
We need to dig in as a Leatherhead family and push for the real objective this year, promotion. It will need everyone of us to be Ians 12th man, support the boys every step of the way, especially when things go wrong, and push our young team to get over the line. It will not be easy but winning trophies in football never is.
I wanted to pass my personal congratulations and thanks to Mick Sullivan and Debbie Eastman who put so much work in to making the cup game run so well off the pitch. They really are our unsung heroes as off pitch organisation doesn’t just happen and their energy and eye for detail is greatly appreciated.
Also a special thank you to Trevor Kelly who runs our community outreach program. He has done an outstanding job in making links with all our local schools, and along with Dave, ensures all the youngsters who visit the club have a day to remember.
To all the volunteers who worked to make the Horsham game happen, THANK YOU.
Last week we also reorganised our board and I have now taken over as Chairman with David Pope becoming Vice Chairman. It is important that David, who had a stroke just under a year ago, is kept away from stress and this reshuffle will ensure he can concentrate on strategic planning around the club while avoiding the day to day issues that come up. I am personally delighted that we have found a way to keep David on the board as he is not only a friend of mine but a valued confident whose opinion and view I value greatly. We have always worked as a pair, we along with others, formed the TSC, went on the board together 3 years ago and have worked, as two supporters, to make the club a true community asset. I have no doubt David will continue to play a key role in the growth of our football club.
Finally, I would like to welcome the Directors, officials and supporters of Binfield. I hope you all enjoy your visit to Fetcham Grove.

Firstly I must thank you for all your recent board statements about the ongoing situation about reshuffles & the present wellbeing of the club to date. I must also thank you personally for your openness and your visibility around the club & ease to approach you on any matter concerning the club. The smoke & mirrors of yesteryear’s are now far behind us so I commend you, David & the board for taking this approach, information is everything & so I finish as I did in my last statement. All is well.
