Leatherhead FC have today confirmed Club Captain Dave Tarpey has signed for Hungerford Town on a short term loan agreement. The agreement does not allow the striker to play in either The FA Cup or The FA Trophy and has a twenty-four hour recall clause, after twenty-eight days.
The decision has been based on the Club’s early season fixtures. In the next seven games, Leatherhead will play on artificial grass on five different occasions. Following his knee surgery, the player has received medical advice not to play on artificial grass pitches.
Therefore, following the excellent pre-season form of Trevan Robinson and to ensure Dave remains match fit, Hayden, Junior and Dave decided this was the the best decision for both the player and the team.
“In going on loan until October, Dave will be in a position to return to Leatherhead fully fit and ready to make an impact,” said Hayden. “It’s fair to suggest the fixture list created a problem and we needed to find a solution.”
“Dave is not comfortable playing on 4G. I understand that and am certainly not going to pressurise him to play. However, this would have seriously restricted his game time. Inevitably, his match fitness would have been effected, which would have elongated the problem. With Dave going to Hungerford Town, when we need him he will be ready to help us. There is no doubt Dave is part of our plans this season. The loan simply resolves a short term problem.”
