The FA Cup certainly retains its magic and I know all of you will be looking forward to another special day at Fetcham Grove. To all the officials, players and supporters of Hanworth Villa, welcome and I hope you enjoy your day.
I am writing these notes the day before our FA Trophy match and after another remarkable away game at Three Bridges. The fight and spirit of the boys was a joy to watch and having looked down and out at 3-1 the second half summed up Leatherhead FC and this group of players.
Driven on by Cam Black and Mark Waters the boys went all out attack with just 3 at the back, the manager making some bold substitutions at half time bringing on new signing Tom Dryer, who scored twice, Deondre and Kofi and soon added Matt Everitt for a long overdue come back.
With the potential for goals all over the front line we drove forward, refused to let our long unbeaten away record end, and fully deserved a 3-3 draw. In the last 5 mins I really thought we might get a winner as wave after wave of Green shirts attacked their goal.
A remarkable comeback from a remarkable group who never fail to impress me with their togetherness in adversity.
I want to use my notes to recognise something else very special thats happening at Leatherhead FC, the start to the season of our Ladies team.
Led by Neil Harlow and Danny Jones they have started the season in style having only lost 1 game so far and have joined the main club seamlessly. They really are a credit to the Tanners and I would encourage the green Army to pop down to the Grove and cheers the girls on. Only £5 to get in, free for season ticket holders, and the bar is open as usual.
Upcoming home games are here:
4th October v Saltdean
11th October v Hastings
21st October v Tonbridge Angels – 7.45 ko
25th October v Montpellier Villa
1st November v Ashford United
I know Neil and his team would really appreciate your support.
Today will be a really tough game between two strong teams who have started the season well. We have enjoyed some great games against Hanworth Villa in the past so get behind the boys and fingers crossed for another cup victory.
UP THE TANNERS
