The club can confirm that Kane Fitzgerald will remain with us for the 2026/27 season and continue as Club Captain as he begins his recovery from the knee injury he suffered in March.
Manager Ian Selley said:
“Kane will remain Club Captain while he’s on the sidelines because his influence on the group is massive. His standards are top drawer — whether that’s timekeeping or driving his teammates on the pitch. He was outstanding for us last season, both as a captain and as a player. Since the day we arrived, he’s been exactly the sort of character we want in and around the changing room.”
Kane underwent surgery this morning and now starts his road to recovery. The next stage will see him spend six weeks on crutches before beginning his rehab programme under the guidance of physios Lou Brown and Kev Taylor.
Speaking after his operation, Kane told us:
“Just wanted to give everyone an update — I’m feeling good and looking forward to getting back around the lads. It’s road‑to‑recovery time now, and I’ll be doing a lot of that with Kev and Lou, so I’ll still be in and around it. Really appreciate everyone checking in on me — I’m doing okay. Can’t wait to see you all through the season and hopefully be back playing again soon.”
