Well, what a difference a week makes in football !
After what felt like the longest week of the season so far, following our second half collapse against Binfield, the boys bounced back in very impressive style with a solid two goal win over Harrow Borough. Great credit goes to the whole management group of Ian, Mick and Pitts, and the players,
who spent the week between games analysing what went wrong, came up with a plan, and executed in a very professional way. They say “when the going gets tough, the tough get going” and that was on display to all the travelling Tanners who went to the Harrow game. Every player putting a shift in and a group determination not to concede a goal. It was critical we bounced back from a shock defeat and they did, congratulations all.
Watching the team at Harrow I couldn’t,t help but be impressed by the numbers of Leatherhead fans supporting the boys in the freezing conditions. The Green Army made up at least half the crowd and I know I speak for all at the club when I say your support and loyalty is greatly appreciated by us all.
As we start the second half of the year I would like to welcome back Seb Tauta Caballero who joins us on loan for the rest of the season. Seb played a key role earlier in the year and was a very popular team member who I have no doubt will help us as we approach the business end of the season.
As well as our match sponsors today we will also have as our guests Howard Fryer and friends who successfully bid for a day out at Fetcham Grove that the club donated to Prostate Cancer UK. Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men with 1 in 8 likely to get it at some point. We are proud as a club to support this charity and thank Howard for his generous donation, enjoy your day.
I would also like to offer a warm welcome to the Directors, officials and players of Egham Town who arrive here on a run of 3 wins and a draw in their last 4 games. We will need to be at our very best today for what I’m sure will be a hard fought game.
UP THE TANNERS.
